Success in Salsomaggiore Terme, Italy
The NIBU would like to extend their congratulations to Luca Crone and Matthew O’Farrell, two Irish juniors who have just won a trophy for the top U26 pair (2nd overall) in the European Presidents Cup.
Wilson Hanna RIP
It is with great sadness that we report the death of Wilson Hanna, one of the NIBU’s oldest, longest and respected members. Wilson died peacefully at home on 7th July. He introduced many new players to bridge at Malone GC, Collegians and the Belfast Boat Club. Wilson was playing bridge at Malone GC until 3 months ago. The photograph shows him celebrating his 97th birthday earlier this year.

Scottish Bridge Union online Swiss Pairs
The Scottish Bridge Union are hosting an online Swiss Pairs event on 6th September to raise funds for Scottish Youth Bridge. Please see this flyer for details.
NIBU ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2025
The meeting was held at ‘The Four Winds’ restaurant, Newtownbreda, Belfast on Sunday June 22nd.

Teltscher Trophy 2025
The weekend of 16-18 May saw the Teltscher Trophy (Senior Home International Championship) being hosted by Ireland and held in the City North Hotel in Gormanstown.

TD Course
Alan Hill is running a TD course specifically to prepare those who are interested in directing NIBU events. The course is not suitable for those who have no desires above club TD, but those who have higher aspirations but little experience would be welcome.
Included will be responsibilities, setting up tournaments, scoring programmes, operation of the laws, making rulings, score adjustments, unauthorised information etc.
This will be held at Kelvin Malone on Thursday June 26th @ 10.30
